LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they've arrested a man after he knowingly attacked a police officer.

According to an arrest report, the incident took place on Sunday, April 13, just before 4 a.m. Police say 32-year-old Timothy R. Boden was driving near the PNC Bank on Breckenridge Lane, near Shelbyville Road, when he saw a man he knew was an off-duty Louisville Metro Police officer in the parking lot.

That's when, police say, Boden drove his vehicle into the parking lot, got out, walked up to the off-duty officer and began punching him in the face.

The officer received cuts to his face, knee and leg, according to the arrest report.

Boden was arrested and charged with third degree assault of a police or probation officer in connection with that incident.

A 63-year-old Jeffersonville man died Saturday from injuries he received in a brutal attack Friday morning that started when police say he interrupted a burglary at Packaging Unlimited on West Kentucky Street in Louisville.

Philip Schulz, of the 2300 block of Riverwood Court in Jeffersonville, was going to work early at Packaging Unlimited in the 1100 block of West Kentucky Street and when he arrived at about 4:30 a.m. he found the business being burglarized, Louisville Metro Police spokesman Dwight Mitchell said.

The burglar, or burglars, attacked Schulz when he arrived at the business, Mitchell said. He suffered serious injuries in the attack and was taken to University of Louisville Hospital, Mitchell said.

He said police believe Schulz interrupted a burglary based on evidence at the scene.

Schulz died at about 8:33 p.m., said Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Jim Wesley. He died of internal head and neck injuries suffered in the attack, Wesley said.

Police did not have any suspects Sunday and anyone with information about the burglary or the attack on Schulz is asked to call the anonymous tip line at (502) 574-LMPD.

Damn shame. What's worse is that this *** will probably receive nothing more than a slap on the wrist from the judge, only opening the floodgates on this type of bs.
