DUI enforcement is a beat officer function and beat officers should have all the training they need to do their jobs. BA certification is a 40-hour class. You take a 4 hour online in-service class to re-certify. There's no reason they couldn't add this to the academy or make it a mandatory in-service for officers regularly handling DUI cases.
