Perhaps this is all about words. I think you are both correct. I don’t believe anyone has ever been allowed to resign from the dept to avoid a grand jury indictment. However, to be indicted one must first be charged with a crime. I DO think that officers have been allowed to resign to avoid being charged. Perhaps the case was weak at best but the officer didn’t want to take a chance being indicted, for example.
See, now we can all get along and all be correct at the same time. Everyone wins. It’s like the YMCA. Hey, where’s my participation trophy?
