Bingo, fleeing felon isn't a Kentucky thing, the Supreme Court, many years ago, removed that from the table. And I'm OK with it, since it should never be easy to kill someone else, if it is, we are no better than the thugs.

The biggest problem is the court system - does not good to catch 'em if the courts won't punish them. And when you get outside Jefferson County, it is much, much different. It would be nice to do a study about how it works in other counties, I think officers here would be surprised. For example, everywhere else, you don't need to subpoena two people to court for a DUI, you only need one, since the arresting officer does the Intox. In fact, even here in Jefferson County, there is nothing that prevents a certified operator from doing their Intox. I know CVE does it all the time, drives the jail crazy, but remember, that isn't THEIR equipment, it is the state's equipment. It is just housed at the jail. And don't say, that won't work here, we're too big, because KSP does it. Wouldn't have to get everyone trained, start with traffic, move on to the beat guys, get all the recruits through the training, and eventually everyone on the street will have it. Saves money on court pay for JCCO.

fleeing felon law is moot. courts ruled years ago it can't be done except in very limited situations. taser is where i disagree with you. when taser was first introduced it was at the same level as oc spray in the force continuum. when the first person was tased for kicking out a window to a car, there was an outcry and you couldn't tase someone for that but you can still oc them to this day yet taser is still on the same level as oc. someone in hand cuffs kicks you tase, them cuz its the same as oc. oops my bad can't tase someone in hand cuffs unless you are really good at explaining things. taser use has been more and more restricted every time it is used in a media unapproved way way by a beat guy because it is in the force continuum. taser is and wasn't ever about using it on someone who had a gun as an alternative. that is a media myth. think back a few years when channel 11 reporter asked why the officers didn't tase a guy who had been shooting at them in a kfc lot off of preston highway while he was in a car. you meet force with force at the same level plus one. that is the model we train to. you swing with a fist i hit you with a stick. it is recognized and upheld by court rulings.
