Louisville officials to announce long-term strategy for western Louisville violence

What does opening the Girls and Boys Club have to do with curtailing violence? The kids who would be willing to go the the G&B Club probably wouldn't be the ones carrying out the violence anyway. LMPD needs to adopt a more aggressive police policy. No one really wants to hear about and implement real change. Try making a suggestion and see how quick your idea gets shot down.

This plan sounds really good, if your trying to get elected for a political position. Attention Chief, "you are already hired" It's time to show the community that through your many years of experience that you know what your are doing. I do not have all of the answers or pretend to. However, I do know that dispatching mental health professionals to the west end is NOT going to curb the recent violence by a few. This problem is with the criminal justice system in Jefferson County. The liberal judges, county attorneys, commonwealth attorneys, and crooked attorneys who are all in bed each other contribute to this wanton cultural that us officers have all become all too familiar with. Until the mentality of this criminal justice community is changed the violence will continue.

"Intelligence Lead Policing" in a department that no longer has an Intelligence Unit. Any body else feel the irony?

Chief you need to look at your department and find what assets you have and don't have at your disposal. Do not listen to the folks in the crystal palace, because they have no idea.

I said once and i'll say it again, computers don' t ride the streets and solve crime the officers do. If this chief thinks comstat is going to solve the crime wave that is fixing to hit this city this summer then we are doomed. He told us there will be "no street crimes unit ever again". I'm sorry but trying to get the community involved has been tried before and it has never worked. To solve the crime in this city you have to pount the hel out of the criminals and have the courts on your side. Until you get the courts to put these "career" criminals in prison nothing will change. So chief all the stats gathering and intelligence gathering is a waste if the criminal is back on the streets a month after the crime. We will continue to do our job but will probably get the same result from 600 W Jefferson "NOTHING".

THIS! As long as the scrotes continue to get NO jail/prison time for everything we lock em up for because of the courts the violence will continue. Instead of having a "Panel of experts" who are more than likely not police, how about having the cops who deal with the real world be the panel.

Ask any second division officer, the parkland boys and girls club is a ceaspool. They fight nonstop, throw things at the police, and are a general meanace to the neighbors. Not to mention, the parties they have are for making money only, not the kids. They continually have problems, it's a joke and will cause more problems than it solves!

Interesting. At least one major and a couple of lieutenants had the same idea years ago. They even started a unit to target violent offenders instead of having a task force locking up light weights for PDP and loitering. The unit has some great detectives who could make a difference with violent criminals, but instead they get to work cases on people harassing the dog catcher and giving Barabara Shanklin mean looks. Intellegence led policing...if Mr. Conrad adopts this then LMPD will only be ten years behind everone else. Better check with your controllers over at SPI Stevie, they may not like you messing with their failed experiment called LMPD.

I agree, until this dept rids itself of SPI it will never go nowhere. It is mostly a money making racket for themselves. Most grads from it come out stupider than when they went in. They really don't know jack about real policing. Just a bunch of textbook crap.

Really.......? Create a crisis response team and give convicted felons jobs. Sounds like two bad ideas to me.

I listened to the new chiefs speech at inservice. Wasn't impressed with anything he said. Sounded like same ol RCW smoke and mirrors speech. A whole lot of talk about nothing.

I agree the Uniform policy is very lax.... I am amazed at the hoop earrings, long ponytails, jacked up fingernail polish, men with no teeshirts, men not shaven, out of policy long mustaches, out of policy hair on men, ball caps in class A uniforms, improper shoes that can't be polished, guns still not concealed in court, not wearing a jacket or sports coats when testifying on the stand (if not in uniform)..... this goes on with countless officers ERRRRRRRDAY!!! We have become terribly unprofessional!

The Mayor's plan for LMEMS:

Among the projects is a plan to reduce the number of Emergency Medical Service low-severity runs by having a nurse triage 911 calls and filter out those that are non-emergency.

Ummmm LMPD could stop requesting them 50 times a day for NON emergency runs (they are Louisville EMERGENCY Medical Service not NON Emergency Medical Service). LMEMS could stop calling P.D. 50 times a day to go with them on a sick person "because they have been drinking" or "they heard a possible argument in the background" or "The diabetic is at a BAR..Oh My".....

I have reduced nearly 20,000 runs a year for P.D. and 20,000 runs a year for LMEMS! YAY ME!

1.Ties are obviously phallic. It’s a big arrow pointing down at your weiner (unless you're tie baby, he is without one), saying “LOOK AT ME!” Who wears skinny ties? Short, fat ones? Bow ties? Losers. Are they losers because of their ties, or do they wear those ties because they’re losers? Best avoid the question altogether by not wearing one at all. A little mystery goes a long way.

2.Ties advertise submission. You’re saying “sure, boss, I’ll do whatever you want, wear whatever you want, you’re the boss, I just want to fit in, please don’t fire me.” Think about it! You’re offering your neck to anyone who wants to grab hold and pull you around. Take a stand. Don’t be a human lemming (unless you're tie baby).

3.Ties are foppish and 16th century. You think we would have evolved in menswear since Louis XIV decided that his Croatian mercenaries looked hot in their neck scarves. At least those served some discernible purpose (cleaning out a gun? wiping off sweat?). Commit to progress. Live in the 21st century.(or are you hot for men in ties? tie baby)

4.Ties are unhygienic. They seldom get cleaned, at some health care facilities they are not allowed.(dirty,dirty tie baby)

5.Ties are sexist. As are pantyhose. Anything that can be mandated to one half of the human race but not the other should be outlawed. A 2003 court case in Britain, reported in the Daily Telegraph, backs me up.(tie baby your true nature is starting to show)

6.Ties are a choking hazard. It takes a lot longer to get that first button undone if you have a tie on than if you don’t. Every second counts. Irreversible brain damage can occur after only 5 minutes without oxygen.(as tie baby clearly shows in his posts)

7.The argument that ties cover up mismatched buttons is lame. It costs a lot less to buy a set of buttons and needle and thread than to buy a decent tie. Mismatched buttons at least serve a purpose. And how many people actually have mismatched buttons on their shirts? Really.(maybe to cover up man gravy on tie babys shirt?)

8.Ties are a health hazard. Here’s the scenario: crowded elevator, closing doors. Running late to court going past parking meter that is to tall, tie gets caught, officer falls. Either way it’s not pretty. I’m surprised OSHA hasn’t legislated on this already.

9.The argument that ties say “I respect you” is also lame. Hint: have you ever seen an insurance salesman, a car salesman, or a lawyer working without a tie? Au contraire, ties say “watch out, honey, I’m about to pull a fast one on you.”

10.Ties, which are made of silk, are the product of child slave labor. Human Rights Watch estimates that there are at least 350,000 bonded children working in the Indian silk industry. Do you want to be part of that? I didn’t think so.(tie baby we know you like little boys, so why be so mean to them?)

What you need to quit doing is sharing everything with everybody. Show some class and move on. If you need that much attention, go see a shrink. I have empathy, but not sympathy for you. Time to move on. You made half of the decision to do the deed.
