Take a look inside of a patrol car sometime and you'll see more technology crammed in between the seats than a F16. Once you shut that car off the computers, digital video system, radios, printers, chargers, and external hard drives will drain a crown vic battery in no time. Since it's policy to have all of these tools operating during your shift you let the car run to power them.
