Metro Council to hold community forums about next LMPD chief

Rant, I hate to admit this, but you are right.

I could care less if the new Chief is a transgender martian, so long as he/she/it is a LEADER, who takes the time to learn the city, the ENTIRE city, and the department before jumping to conclusions.

Rant, If I were to come out and say the next chief needed to be white I would be labeled as a racist, nothing less. But it is OK for someone to come out and say that the next chief needs to be black or a black female or it is not right. I cannot express my disappointment with that remark or point out how WRONG it is without you saying I am whining? Why is that? I did not say anything to express who it should be just that people are already saying it needs to be a black or black female. I want someone who will let the officers go back to being the police without having to worry about how many tick marks they have for parking tickets or FI cards. A person who will back the officers up when they are right and hold them accountable when they are wrong. Is that too much to ask for? As for Gentry, I was told she flexed her "mussel" yesterday in comp-stat really trying to show how strong of a leader she is. She laid into a couple of the majors showing disrespect and it got heated. A true leader still shows respect for those whom they command even if things are not going right. If you are going to disrespect someone you do it in private not among the whole group. But then again the blood letting has begun so from here on it will get even more nasty among those who want the top job. And before you say I don't like Gentry, you are correct. She berated a Sgt infront of a group at a park for responding to a call from a local politician about the parking complaints there. She yelled at him and showed the same disrespect as many know her known for.
