Metro Council to hold community forums about next LMPD chief

Many have said if we dont get a new chief from outside the department with no connection's to the former city & county then we will be going backwards?

I'm guessing that the locations chosen for these public forums is merely a coincidence. "Meet the new boss....same as the old boss."

Why is it that the old city districts get to have input, but the former county districts do not?

Seems these public forums are geared for a certain part of the community. Same old song and dance, we have to appease. Same ol shi* that Abramson used to pull to stay in office. Get real council and mayor have them where EVERYONE in this city has a say, instead of the CJ & How BAD da Police Are screamers live. Be a man Fischer, pick your Chief and go on, we will live with your decision right or wrong. If Denver can we can. This dept has a lot of faith in you right now mayor, we figure you'll make the right decision. Next Bitc#er to the podium.

I was reading the comment on the online cj when they first posted this story. Kind of funny how one poster stated they felt that seeing Louisville had it's first black chief we needed to have a black female (and there is one up there now) to be the next chief. they kept going that it needed to be a female at the least but really needed to be a black female. Is it just coincidence that the input meetings are in certain areas of the community and there are those who feel the chief needs to be black female?

on a different note, Ed Springston has a bleep on his site that he is looking into the chief having a complaint filed against him for sexual harassment and it was covered up by the front office. wonder if this is true and if it is not a good way to try and become chief for whomever did it.

So who is the chief promoting before he leaves? Heard there will be a few....

Is the mayor going to have a community forum where the majority of tax payers live? Or is he just playing to the liberal base by making them think they are included. For "F"udge sake, stop treating the minority communities like children. One preacher, one activist, or one group does not speak for the entire community.

What do WE want?

1. A Chief who let's his officers police in a manner that is good for the community, not driven by stats.

2. A Chief who promotes people capable of doing their job.

3. A Chief who hires people who want to serve and not those who serve a politically correct ideal.

4. A Chief who is engaged with his department, so that he may truly learn who works and those who work at trying to get into his inner circle.

5. A Chief who tells the truth! We have gangs. This Comstat stuff is a scam so lets drop back on punt for a better solution.

6. A Chief who doesn't let the CJ run his department. Who takes a stand to say yes we have problems with our court appearance system and it will be fixed by this date. Not open a costly, burdensome, useless investigation that in the end proved nothing that we didn't already know.

7. A Chief who realizes that first and formost he is expected to be a POLICE OFFICER. He was hired to lead the men and women of this department. To make it a better and stronger organization that serves the common good.

8. A Chief who is a member of THIS community and who has a vested interest in the well being of Louisville. When we search for a Mayor we don't elect someone from outside the community but we accept when a politician tells us that the best and brightest are found outside of Louisville.

I Love Louisville but I am so frustrated that nearly ALLLLLLLL of the largest 30 depts in this country make in 1-3 years what a 20-24 year officer in Louisville makes. OUR PAY IS EMBARRASSING!!!!!!

10 year Officers in dept's are size are making anywhere from 65-75 grand.. 20 year Louisville officer is at 54 grand...

Before people post.....These are base pays and many of the depts have great benefits, including better retirement, college pay, bilingual pay and most have take home cars.

Donny Smith in Traffic has been on 40 years and his base pay is only $55,577... SIMPLY PATHETIC PAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's see if I can really stir up this RACIST stuff here. I want a Green Chief. Now I said it. A Martian could do as good a job as this command staff we have now. So I elect we get one to run for Chief. Maybe we can get one who uses his weapon as good as the one in Mars Attacks.

Mr. David James would be a great pick to become the new police chief, he knows a lot and has been around.
