Metro Council to hold community forums about next LMPD chief

I'll give you some gang info. What about the gang that runs around 32nd street was doing a bunch of crime the last couple of years, cant remember what they were calling themselves, maybe someone from the 2nd or 1st can tell us. What about the ones around Boones park wearing their red bandanas, bloods I think? What about the other ones in Portland, portland mafia or portland original gangsters? Or maybe the crips who run around victory park? Or was that the wanna be bloods too? Anyway, the gangs are out there man, I dont know how you havent seen them, but they are out there. And as far as who the "leader" of one of these gangs are? If youve worked in a high crime area you would know that info is very rarely known, if there even is one. Ask the beat guys in the 1st, 2nd or 4th they'll tell you. Ask the guys in the 7th, they'll tell you how its starting out there, esp with signs of ms13 at work. Did you ever talk to those guys in that gang unit? The info they had on local gangs was scary. Im not sure where you been for your 20 years but in my 20 plus years Ive seen plenty of gang activity.

I'm not going to post leader names on here because they don't deserve the spotlight. The reason these gangs go unnoticed is because we don't get the proper training to track and identify them. They don't even offer the Gang Inservice anymore. I don't have 20 years like you but I do have 10 and I know my beat and who's who on it. Gang members love talking about themselves and they love to trash talk the other gangs in Louisville. If you seriously think there isn't a gang problem here because they're not as blatant as the gangs of the East and West Coasts then that's on you.

The gang unit was disbanded because having it meant that they were admitting that gangs existed, and they didn't want to admit it. Saying that the PD would have kept them if they were needed is disingenuous - they get rid of units for political reasons.

As for me, as a Portland resident, I can tell you for sure that the Portland Mafia and the Portland Original Gangsters existed, and eventually merged into one unit. Some years back I could have told you the names, can't now since I don't do LE in that area - but I have no doubt they still exist in a way that legally qualifies the group as a gang under Kentucky law.

Rant I am betting you are the now former officer whose son was VPC?
