I 100% agree, it ain't the flash light, but then again I am old and I was taught my light was to be in my week hand and that it was indeed an impact weapon when needed. In fact I can remember the "wheel" of force that was taught (as opposed to the ladder) and was often told that the individual we dealt with decided where the wheel landed, and then we would take it one step up to ensure we would go home at the end of shift.

I have been on corners and in ditch lines with "citizens" who wanted to bring it on and some gave it well, others not so much. Regardless I have managed to come home to my family for the past 15 years, and will - God willing - continue to do it for another 10. If the dirt bag reaches or my beat partners throat, he is going to go to the hospital. If he complies, he goes to jail with nothing worse this and a court date in his future. It is his decision where the wheel of force lands, and my duty to respond to protect myself, my partner, the citizens and the property belonging to the citizens of our commonwealth.

I won't stand in judgment of the officer in the video, I wasn't there. I did not see what he saw. I did not hear what he heard. I didn't feel what he felt. I will remind everyone that you should always assume you are on video and that those with the video camera do not like us, and do not think like us. Period.

Let the criminal decide what force we are to bring to bear against him. It is the wheel of life after all, and he will have to be the one to spin it, I will just be the one to enforce its landing spot (plus one).
