Water company loan to settle firefighters' dispute over back pay |
RE: Water company loan to settle firefighters' dispute over back...
Department heads wonder why nothing productive gets done. Executives getting 30-40% raises all the time in the headlines. Salaries of $150,000 and the next year they get a raise to $210,000. Meanwhile, all the little county "peon workers" take it up the arse. Can't even get a 5% raise on a $50,000 year salary, but the other guy gets a $60,000 a year raise.
American English: in a historical and legal sense, peon generally only had the meaning of someone working in an unfree labor system (known as peonage). The word often implied debt bondage and/or indentured servitude.

Not so tough if you go visit the grave site of the officer MURDERED for simply wearing an LMPD uniform or perhaps speaking to the Officer that was SHOT recently for simply wearing an LMPD badge or the nemerous officers injured while having to fight or chase criminals. Would seem soooo much easier to give them a raise then now wouldn't it??!!
