Officer fires shots at car in store parking lot |
RE: Officer fires shots at car in store parking lot
If there was no immediate danger to the himself or his partner, or innocent civilians, then there was no reason to discharge your service weapon at the vehicle while it was fleeing, period, and most of logically know this. This is more than an "oops" and a reprimand, this should be an unpaid suspension. Were all the rounds accounted for, remember this happened in a Walmart parking lot at around 2100 hours, during the Holiday Shopping Season...
I do not care about the drug dealer, what I care about is the possibility some civilian who could have been possible injured or killed, because they were in the parking lot, when one of our own had a "Lapse of Judgement" or an "Ooops". What if the driver had lost control and hit a child, a round went astray or ricocheted? Would we be "okay with this? I am tired of us trying to justify, rationalize, or congratulate the actions of some of our own, that were commited during a "Lapse of Judgement" or simply put, poor impulse control. We are definitely supposed to better than that, especially when it comes to discharging or service weapons.
