Because LMPD command and training unit is retarded. We could fill so many vacancies right away if we hired about 25 laterals a year. And FYI unless they are from another state we dont need to send them through a B.S. 18 week lateral academy. You dont need to run and yell at laterals. They could hit the streets in a few weeks after learning policy and procedures. We waist so much time and money training people who are already trained. What we forget is that these guys outside of LMPD and Lexington Metro are the police,traffic investigator, and detectives. they have done it all and would make great officers at this agency. But we will never hire those guys because we dont hire laterals, and you cant blame these guys for not applying with us I wouldnt go through the academy again.
