Why would they have a vendetta? They ran across the story, pursued it, and found there was a lot more to it than they expected. They are supposed to ignore it? This posting is right on the money - coverups will get you in more trouble than an original screw up every time. The chief's office has had, what, almost a year now to come up with some response to this mess? What are they doing about a detective that is clearly unable to do the job? What silly job have they come up for her to do now? If she can't do the job, slap her back on a beat or FIRE HER - but let's get on with it. We know she's going to cost us a lot of money when all the lawsuits shake out. And I say US - those lawsuits come from taxpayer money and that is less money for city services.

She was the reporting officer on a wreck that the reporters wife had where she was at fault. Riley tried to get her to change the report to read otherwise and she held her own and did not do it. His wife was at fault obviously in the accident a rear ender at that. Nuff said.
