Off-duty corrections officer injured in attempt to stop shoplifter

for those of you who usually don't know what your talking about. officers from other states can come to kentucky without attending a full academy. there is a challenge test that can be taken if all requirements are met. then officers need only attend part of indivdual department academys if required by that department.

and yes LMPD has several officers who have done just that.
