Most of the negative comments are from individuals that have never worked in that part of the county, they are making comments about something they know nothing about. AND it is usually learned from others making comments they know nothing about. But, that is usually the case with people that want to feel they are doing something more than others, so they have to downplay some to make thiers look like more.

Yes it is true the 8th is generally slower than the 4th, 3rd,2nd 1st as far as calls for service. But when you put into play the number of officers on the beat, actual size of Divisions it can bring things more into prospective.

Like I was told in the Academy "If you are going to be a good Officer, you will be one no matter where you are at"

These persons saying that if you are in the 8th you are not the "real police", makes me wonder what kind of officer they are. Can they only police where are? And if so then they need to stay there.

Call 574-2258... M-F 8-5, some one should answer the phone... On M/W and L/W, you might get lucky if the station person is on (not laid off)... Better yet CALL YOU COUNCIL PERSON and tell them (DEMAND) equal protection for your home and family. Per Capita the 8th has lower manpower than anyother division, yet brings in 1/3 of the cities income and has the largest NIGHT TIME population of any division in the city. I have to say that having worked with many of the officers in that division, most are very squared away and do good work. As a resident of the division myself, I am often shocked that the only officers I see are often off-duty on their way homes...

That being said, is it the 1st, 2nd or 4th... No it isn't, but it is rapidly drawing populations from those areas (Othe bricks / PJ's etc) that are being torn down... In fact check out the Westport Road neighborhoods and look at the increase in Section 8 and HUD residences in the past two years. That is not meant to say that all poor people are criminals, they are not... But when Mama moves in, here comes here criminal son and his friends, etc, etc, etc.
