I absolutely agree in regards to McKenzie Mattingly, he was a sacrificial offering to the masses. As to the quitting remark, well, thats just overkill. It isnt an occasional infraction under emergency circumstances. It is the rampant disregard that has become customary for officers. If you have a badge, you are immune to traffic tickets, and 90% of those I have seen use it. I have seen then use their lights to go all the way to the front of construction backups, then once past it, turn them off and go shopping at the mall. The woman who runs a redlight to get to the hospital is not at all the aim of my ire. It is the cop taking his kid to teeball practice, or trying to get to his daughters dance recital, things that EVERY other member of society has been in a hurry to do and received a ticket for it at one time of another.

In response to your accusations about my attitude, well, all I can say is that I tried it your way many times. In response to that I have received nothing but insults and a threat ofphysical harm. Im left to believe that no one cares who acts how, as long as its against me, or that very few people actually read this site. If you think I am the one with an attitude, then please take the time to scan over the posts and see what I have chosen NOT to reply to.

I am also not equating traffic violations to criminal offenses, however, do you not agree that as law enforcement that you should be held to a higher standard? I mean, honestly, I think IF the posters here are cops, and according to most, im the only non-cop (ergo non welcome poster) then there is a vast unfamiliarity with the mission statement or the LMPD. I realize this is a private site, but the actions of officers out on the street ishardly private.I wont bother posting the whole thing here, because I am pretty sure there are copies available for those who dont know them, but I would say not only is choosing to grant each other immunity from traffic laws that are enforced with the rest of society en masse, is not exactly ETHICAL BEHAVIOR AND ACCOUNTABILITY. Let me toss some other phrases in here, if I may. WE WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE TO THOSE WE SERVE. WE EMBRACE HONESTY. WE WILL ADHERE TO A CODE OF CONDUCT. FAIR AND IMPARTIAL ENFORCEMENT OF ALL LAWS.

I could go on, but I think the point is made. While you are right that neither is right or pretty, just acknowledging the ugliness of it, doesnt excuse the continuing pretense that it isnt there. There is a wide difference between discretion when writing a ticket, and blatant immunity. As I said before, the question remains, the next time you, or any other officer writes a ticket, ask yourself,

"Would this person be getting a ticket if they had a badge?"

Im also sure as hell not feeling the RESPECT FOR ALL PEOPLE, and that isnt to say from your particular post, but just in general. Lastly, I treat each dealing with another trucker on individual basis, if someone expects to be excused just because they are a trucker, then its their mistake. I wouoldnt hesitate to turn in a fellow trucker for throwing a bottle of urine out the window, or for being too lazy to walk inside the truckstop and pissing right there on the fuel island. See, truckers and cops are both vital to the existence of a society, and when it comes to licenses, truckers ARE held to a higher standard, I just think that cops should be as well, not lowering the bar for yourselves, "just because you can."
