saying this nicely, I am a lmpd officers wife, and one thing that 99% of local residents do not know is that all of the officers have to buy almost all of their equipment. It's not given to them. The equipment allowance is the most pitiful check I've ever seen. My husband has to save all of his allowance checks a year just to buy a simple peice of ewuipment. He had to use money we got from our wedding last year, (that was going towards our honeymoon, but we now no longer have because of this), to buy a radar gun, his actual gun, and many other things that was not provided to them. We have state troopers in our family, and everything but a taser is given to them. I just wish people would understand that our officers are underpaid, over worked, and poorly mis-understood. They are tax payers too, and they don't get a break.
