i think that is where a lot of guys get off track. i think a higher salary / paying for health insurance is better in the long run than free insurance and no raises. the higher salary pays off in the long run because it goes to the high three, paying for the insurance is taking the least of the two evils, it only lasts as long as you work- the high salary can benefit you for the rest of your life. the insurance from the retirement system is better and cheaper.
