It's at least a step in the right direction that former leadership of the lodge never had the courage to do. So I applaude their efforts. Maybe we should have done something like this before our last contract was being negotiated

The thought behind the commercial was what it should have been. But it gives the projection that the Dispatchers that worked that Police channel either didn't care about the officers or don't have the right training to handle the call of an officer in trouble. I, being a Dispatcher for over 10yrs, took offense to that part of it. I have been involved in 2 officer involved shootings in the last 12 months, might be a few months more than that but not many, and in no way shape or form failed to provide the officers with quick, decisive and thorough information, assistance and medical attention if needed without hesitation. I, along with the majority of my co-workers, would feel like **** if one of "our" officers got hurt while we were working the channel. And for anyone to think otherwise is sadly mistaken. Do we have the best radio system, no of course we don't, but it is not up to the rank and file in the center to change that. I would have much rather seen the money that LMPD paid on the pretty new paint jobs, new badges, taking the stripe off your pants and changing the patches go to making sure that you and your fellow officers can talk to each other across the parking lot on the radio let alone talk across the county.

I applaud the officers who go out everyday and bust their humps in adverse situations.

I do not dislike LMPD Police Officers, on the contrary, I thank god every day that you are doing what you do so my family and I can live in peace and without fear.

I will get off my soapbox now, but felt compeled to write this out.

Your friend in the Center, whether you believe it or not.
