It's call THE CONSTITUTION, and feel free to try to change it if you like. Other counties have gone back to allowing the sheriff to do their job - Boone County disbanded their county police and merged it into the Sheriff's Office, and now they've got an HQ that is truly awesome.

You guys are pretty darned ignorant of the law if you don't realize that the sheriff is a constitutional office and can't be "updated for Louisville." Doesn't work that way.

And I'm sure that the people in Boone County (policed by a sheriff), Kenton County, Pike County, for that matter, would be suprised to learn that they live on farmland. I've long though we need a mandatory LE exchange program, might do you Louisville boys and girls good to get out and do some real policing, where you don't have 20 officers as backup and where you have to actually investigate the crimes you respond to!
