Would Be Fugitive Caught On Tape In Local Court Room

So what was this guy being sentenced for? And will he actually have to serve some time now? Didn't the sheriffs office learn anything from the Atlanta incident, like maybe having a deputy that is capable of moving faster than a snail??? Good thing this guy didn't decide to grab the deputy's gun and take out a few people. Time to look at procedures here and maybe adjust them to prevent this from occurring again and maybe save a life!

That guy just needed a hug and everything would have been alright. Until society starts treating criminals like they are criminals, this will be a re-occurring theme in courtrooms across the nation. Liberals and everybody has rights groups, enjoy the mess you have created!

I've got more confidence in some of the local security guards throughout the city than I have in most of the people at the Sheriffs Office. Every Sheriff has just hired his friends and their friends, even after they got their so-called Merit process. I'm not knocking some of the younger Deputies looking to be on the police one day, but the over-the-hill gang they've got at the courthouse isn't going to protect anyone if the sh-t hits the fan, whether they are retired cops or not. The real courthouse security is now and always will be the Police Officers appearing in court that day. Corrections should be escorting the prisoners, the revenue commission should be collecting the taxes, LMPD should be serving the criminal process, and the old courthouse security should be running the magnetometer. They should have been disbanded 30 years ago.

What an idiot.

Does anyone think that the incident might qualify as a Darwin Awards Honorable Mention?

Gosh, you mean LMPD officers have never lost a prisoner?

Great now we're feuding with the Deupties. Should we go ahead and start bashing on Corrections too? We're all family you knuckleheads so start acting like it :-) We all look like a bunch of little kids who don't play well with others. HOME TEAM!!!

What departments that are similar in size to Louisville don't make laterals go through an academy?

I'm sure the deputies you see every day in court appreciate learning what you think of them. Now maybe you can understand the animosity toward the retired guys that have come over and "taken over" - just lateraled right in - while your agency requires laterals to go through practically another academy because they aren't "good enough."

And you wonder why you don't get quality laterals, while other agencies are picking up all sorts of good officers who want to move to Kentucky for various reasons.
