Lets see, a policy that states you (as a police officer) cannot say anything negative against the department. You cannot say anything to defend yourself in a crimnal or civil (on-going) incident as private citizens can do to defend themselves in the public eye. People who don't want you to be able to take the 5th as every citizen has the right to do.

No one said to follow orders without thinking, but if you as a police officer do not follow a legal order and fail to do your job, you will get days or fired for conduct unbecomming ( a charge that can cover anything they want).
