WARNING THIS POST IS LONG AND DELIBERATE DON"T READ IF YOUR LOOKING FOR SNIDE REMARKS.

**Everybody in the public knows the take home car program is a scam. It's a secret the police try to protect but the public knows about it.**

The take home car is not a scam. It costs the officer 8 to 10 thousand a year (city's numbers in the labor dispute)in salary to have the car. That's not counting pension contributions. Wait I see your point it is a scam and officers suffer. It's also in policy about how the cars are handled that is open to the public so how is that a secret?

**First of all, off duty police officers rarely assist people in the public (don't ask me for proof for things you already know the truth to)**

Yes this is true there are times we don't stop for a number of reasons not all of them legit. That statement does disregard the thousands of times we stop and help so thanks for the generalization. I will grant some leeway to you if your reference is you were in the car with your spouse and watched them drive by a stranded motorist. After all I wouldn't expect you to know the policy telling him he can't do that if your in the car since its policy and apparently a secret.

**Also, if you live out of Jefferson County what is the point in having an assigned car if you cannot drive it around off duty in Jefferson County thereby creating the illusion that the police are always present? Bet you won't answer that.**

If you live outside of the county you can drive the issued vehicle in Jefferson county if you were going to the mall per say. I will assume you misspoke on that. As to the second part that I won't answer. The illusion part is played by the city. They count the extra cars rolling around running errands as officers on the street thereby "inflating the numbers" This allows them to claim a higher police presence and lowering things such as liability rates and a higher officer to citizen ratio helping with lower bond rates because of the scam as you put it. This saves the taxpayers even more since you pay the interest on bonds issued for I don't know the YUM center maybe.

**I'm married to a cop and watched in disgust as the police whined like spoiled little children when the Mayor asked for a usage fee. **

The whining, as you put, was that the car was a benefit( once again the mayors words changed to privelege) that the city controlled and even advertised as a recruiting ploy. He changed it AFTER supposedly negotiating in good faith a legally binding contract. In case you missed it, the courts ALL said he was wrong. So I guess when someone reports their property was taken they are just whining because something they had was illegally taken?

**Oh, but deserve it right? You put your life on the line each time you put on a uniform. (Enough of the fake heroism).**

Deserve a car for putting life on the line, no. Putting my life on the line whether its once a day, once a week, once a year or once a career should get me the consideration to at least examine the facts and not spew vitriol and make generalizations for the simple fact the potential is there and most of us answer the call when it comes. The bottom line for this point that you should have learned from your souse is we do a job that is demanding in ways that other jobs can't touch. Not saying it is being in a combat zone but its not rainbows as your tone implies. When it comes to the car, you can have it if you are willing to make up the salary it costs me every year but as for the scam, your way off. The citizen isn't getting scammed its the Officer and his family because it costs him money (salary for the car), more on his pension and most importantly in this country, his freedom. Because we have the car we are required to do things that may put our lives on the line while off duty. Fern Creek High school ring any bells. Just because no rounds came at any Officers didn't meant the danger was less for the guys in shorts and t shirts that responded to an unknown intruder armed with a gun when they went into the school to save innocents. How about the off duty Officer who caught the armed robber J-Town was looking for a few weeks after that? As you complained about earlier police not stopping to help, what other company requires an employee to work while off of the clock because they have a car. I don't see you complaining about garbage men not picking up litter while on their lunch break let alone while driving their kids to the mall.

You posting angrier and angrier things about your personal disgust still fails to make any valid argument. I'm not asking for proof. I am asking you to at least attempt to make a point or offer valid arguments to prove whatever point you are trying to make. So far, I've seen nothing but whining because of personal bitterness within your marital dynamic.
