The first officer did tell the LTC to leave the Mall, infact he would not allow the LTC to finish explaining where he lived based on his past circumstances. The bottom line is accountability and active interpersonal skills for LMPD public servants. We all need to review the LMPD mission statement and understand our SPECIFIED roles and responsibilities as chartered by our command. Then ask if fifth District earned their money on 29 JAN 2012 I understand we serve and protect the citizens of Jefferson County.

Bad news does not get better over time in the world of ever changing mass media and globalization. It was my understanding that the LTC waited for the completion of the Professional Standards Review Board before he pursued his right to obtain public information on his incident. In fact he coordinated the Mid-City Mall security surveillance after he was advised that the responding LMPD failed to capture four on site cruiser surveillance tapes. This was executed on the advice of a retired Louisville LMPD Officer that witnessed the event, and yes there is other video; I do feel that it is refreshing for a change that the LTC is a catalyst for proper accountability and advanced training. You may not care for his civil rights methodology, but you must applaud his actions to mitigate future public misunderstandings and assist his battle budies. I hope we do not let this happen again in our Areas of Responsibilities.
