Louisville man pleads guilty to wounding LMPD officer

A Louisville man pleads guilty to shooting and wounding a Metro Police officer one year ago. Danta Watts, Junior agreed to accept a sentence of ten years in prison during a court hearing late Friday afternoon.

He's pleaded guilty to charges that include attempted murder of a police officer. Police say he shot Officer Kevin "Jody" Speaks as he worked with Officer Jeffrey Lauder near Portland Avenue the night of December 7th last year.

Officer Speaks was shot in the back and returned to duty last spring.

Watts also pleaded guilty to several unrelated charges. A judge will sentence him in February.
