One killed, five injured during police pursuit in Radcliff, KY

An Elizabethtown, Kentucky man died and five others were injured in a 3-car crash Sunday morning during a police pursuit in Radcliff, Kentucky.

Kentucky State Police identified the man as 36-year-old James E. Fentress.

State Police Trooper Bruce Reeves says a Hardin County Deputy Sheriff was pursuing a maroon Mitsubishi Outlander on Highway 313 around 8 a.m. June 6 when the driver ignored a traffic light at the intersection of U.S. Highway 31W and struck a Lincoln Town Car driven by Fentress traveling southbound on 31W.

A third vehicle, a minivan traveling south on Hwy. 313 with four people inside, was also struck. All four people were taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

The driver of the minivan, 48-year-old Billy N. Farley, was later flown to University of Louisville Hospital where he remains in stable condition. The other people in the van, 57-year-old Suk C. Farley, 21-year-old Lee Joe Farley and 19-year-old Josue Cruz, all of Radcliff, received minor injuries.

The driver of the car being pursued by police was also flown to University Hospital. Police have not identified him and his condition was not immediately available.

Trooper Reeves says the Mitsubishi was clocked at speeds of 125 miles per hour shortly before the crash. Reeves says other than speeding, he is not sure why the Sheriff's deputy was pursuing the vehicle.

Neither police unit was involved in the accident.
