Members of Fop 614 voted today on the contract proposal offered by Metro Government. The vote was determined by 678 Officers and Sergeants that came out to vote. 376 voted to accept the contract and 302 voted against the offer.
The apathy that pervades the department apparently reared its ugly head during the vote. There are over 300 unaccounted for votes of Officers and Sergeants that didn't take the time to vote on the single most important thing that will affect them over the next 4 years.
I can understand if someone was out of town on vacation or a school, but people, those figures don't lie. Over the course of this contract there will be some very important features of this contract that will affect each and every one of us, but if you were one of the people that didn't vote whether you were in favor of the contract or against it, you have no reason to complain if there is something you don't like about it.
As long as people are willing to accept the status quo, then that is what Metro Government will serve up to us. This Mayor doesn't give a damn about the Police, Fire, EMS or any of the agencies that keep this community from going to pieces overnight.
