New York City Sergeant Collapses and Dies in the Line of Duty

Family and friends await word from the medical examiner's office o­n "why exactly" a New York City cop collapsed and died.

Sergeant Keith Ferguson, 38, was responding to a call for help from a fellow officer in Soho, when he mysteriously collapsed.

Ferguson was a member of the NYPD Emergency Services Division.The sergeant collapsed and died while assisting in the arrest of a suspect at the intersection of Grand and Broadway.

Neighbors say he will be missed.

Alex Goldberg, Neighbor: "I think he was a very strong member of the community. Whenever I saw him out o­n the street, he was always saying 'hi' to people and that kind of stuff."

Police say that Ferguson was in excellent shape and had not called in sick in 10 years.
