6th Division Officers exchanged gunfire with a 19-year-old in the parking lot of the Rangeland Manor Apartments located in the 5300 block of Russett Boulevard. The incidet occured at approximately 3:25 this afternoon.
Officers were called to investigate a report of a domestic violence between the man and his mother. As officer's were talking to both parties, the suspect pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun and fled the apartment through a broken window. As the officer's chased the suspect into the parking lot, he fired several shots at officer's and the officer's returned fire. Neither party was hit in the exchange of gunfire.
The suspect is a 19 year old black male named Chris Ritchie. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket and black jeans. He may have fled the area in a red chevy corsica or similiar vehicle.
