LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

PHOTO

I am very proud and honored to be taking over the reigns as president of the largest and most revered Fraternal Order of Police lodge in the state of Kentucky, River City Lodge No. 614.

I am blessed to have the first board of directors elected by the membership since this lodge was established and I am looking forward to serving with them.  I am also blessed to be the leader of the bravest and most dedicated group of people on the face of this earth.

As you know, in January of 2003, the city and the county governments merged and the police departments were brought together to form one large department.  As a result, Louisville Lodge No. 6, representing the city officers, and Jefferson County Lodge No. 14, representing the county officers, were merged to form a new lodge. The board of directors was made up of officers from both lodges appointed by the State Lodge to hold office until this year when the first election of officers could be held. That election took place on November 15th and gave us our new board of directors. Now we have leaders put in place by the members. All of our members risk their lives everyday to protect the public and its' property. But that is not all we risk. Unlike other occupations officers risk their livelihood every time they act in their authoritative role. They risk their homes, their bank accounts and their reputations every day. They leave their families to guard other peoples' families. And they do it willingly because they know that if they didn't, there is a possibility no one else would, and that is not acceptable to them. All of our members had jobs when they were hired as officers but they chose to be the police because it is a "calling" not to be taken lightly.

As president, I will always strive to maintain the highest standard of leadership and represent you in the most professional manner. I will communicate with you and assist you in your mission to "serve and protect." Remember, "Our Uniform is the Strength and Power of our Responsibility, and it Represents What We Must Do, Protect This Community."
