Metro Police are looking for the person who gunned down a man Wednesday night on the city's south end.

It happened on Oleanda Avenue near Taylor Boulevard just near Churchill Downs.

It is Louisville's 60th homicide of 2005 at the Arcadia Apartments and right now Metro Police say the victim is a hispanic male.

Not many specifics are known about what happened. They are trying to piece together details surrounding the shooting.

Officer first responded to a call at little at 7:00pm.

"Metro Police were called to the 1500 block of Oleanda on the report of a shooting," says Alicia Smiley of Louisville Metro Police. "When they arrived they did find a male Hispanic who they believe is a resident here of Arcadia Apartments who was shot at least once."

The victim died at the scene.

Residents who live in the area are mostly hispanic and police made arrangements for communicators to assist.

"We want to see if he was outside and perhaps ran into the building or if this occurred outside," says Smiley.

Investigators say residents may provide a key.

It was a warmer than usual November evening.

"We are trying to see if any one saw anything, if they heard anything unusual, if there was anything going on," says Smiley. "If there saw or heard an altercations and any other kind of information we can find out."

Officers are hoping that someone in this complex may have seen something that will lead to an arrest.
