Officer Kelly Hammond Dies In Accident

It is with deep regret that we inform you that Officer Kelly Hammond died today following a farming accident on Taylorsville Rd in eastern Jefferson County. He was 39.

Officer Hammond was giving instruction to the driver of a tractor when the driver lost his footing on the clutch.

The tractor jumped forward and struck Officer Hammond, pinning him under the large rear wheel.

Officer Hammond was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officer Hammond was a 12 year veteran of the Louisville Metro Police Department and currently assigned to the K-9 unit. His previous assignments included the 2nd district (city) and was one of the original officers assigned to the metro narcotics I.C.E unit.

Officer Hammond leaves behind a wife and 2 children. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
