Memorandum Alleges Mismanagement of Equipment Funds

A interdepartmental memo obtained recently exposes that maintenance expenses for the LMPD fleet are "escalating at an alarming rate." and that, "The primary reason for this projected overage is the implementation by Fleet Services of NAPA as it's in-house Contractor Operated Parts Store."

According to the document the city is spending on average 40 - 60% more on parts and equipment using NAPA then what they were paying before using the company as their sole parts distributor. The document further states that paying the higher prices for these parts and equipment will cause the allocated budget for auto parts to be exceeded by $151,728.
