Unjust? Or Just Unhappy?

The following editorial was written by Bill Lamb, the General Manager of WDRB FOX 41. It is not often that we praise the media for unbiased reporting, but this is truly an exception to the rule. Thank You Mr. Lamb...The Mattingly verdict is almost a week old now and a small group of loud people seems determined to have you believe that justice wasnâ?'t served, this is all about race, and the entire African American community is outraged. The fact is, none of that is true.Weâ??ve been told Newbyâ?'s mother lost her little boy. Iâ??m sorry for her loss, but he was not a little boy. He was a man, one who was a gun carrying drug dealer trying to rob an undercover cop.Weâ??ve heard how he was gunned down â??on the battlefield.â? He wasnâ?'t shot on a battlefield. He was shot in a neighborhood while he was willingly and knowingly engaged in an illegal activity that put neighbors and families at risk.

Weâ??ve heard how justice wasnâ?'t served. But this is exactly how justice works. A man was held accountable for his actions. Both sides presented their case and a multi-racial jury made a decision. Just because you donâ?'t get the verdict you wanted doesnâ?'t mean justice wasnâ?'t served. Itâ?'s time to stop making this about race and start paying better attention to what our kids are doing. Itâ?'s time to become more involved in their lives to help keep them from making the same bad decisions Michael Newby made.Iâ??m Bill Lamb and thatâ?'s myâ?¦Point of View. Email Bill Lamb
