I agree with the big post. Obviously the person that said schewwww does not care about the beats, patrol, citizens, morale.....must be a commander! (abv rank of Sgt.)

I hope your arrest citations don't look like your post. You have butchered the English language. Also, I'm a firm believer that a person who frequently alternates between lower case and capital letters in their writings as much as you did has some degree of chemical imbalance in their brain. Kind of reminds me of a schizophrenic.

Well -- KSP will be in Class A too.

Try to see the bigger picture...

I can see the points for both the patrol uniform and the Class A.

But, as far as details such as the Ky State Fair goes, it only makes sense for our people to look their best, as they represent not only our police department, but our entire city.

I worked years in a Class A, and in those days (on LPD) we still had the white parade stripe down the side of the trousers...try sneaking around in the bricks without that thing giving your position away!

But, we made it work, and I'd venture to say that at least most of us were damn proud of the job we were doing and how we looked doing it. That's not vanity, it's a simple fact that regardless of social status, people generally will have more respect for authority when that authority "looks" like they deserve the respect. Remember, an officer simply showing up in uniform to a run is part of the force continuum.

Would Class B have made more sense on those days on late-watch? Maybe...but most of us at least made sure we were squared-away in our Class As, and we still managed to catch bad guys while wearing all the "bling buttons" and so forth. I'm not bashing anyone in particular, but in recent years it just seems our department as a whole doesn't look so squared away anymore.

Every one of you knew what you were signing up for when you applied, and that your job, for at least a while, would involve wearing the uniform.

Just my $.02
