And if the idea of hiring laterals is such a great idea, why do you think it is not implemented? Can you answer that? It would certainly save the city money and the experience is already there. LMPD only accepted officers from other departments when LMPD became desperate to fill slots. You are not the first to think of laterals...it is an idea that has been passed on many times.
