So right!

What's the big deal?

The idea came from a policy in Maryland that the dept learned about at a DV conference. It was not invented by C.N.

No one is asking that any officer at any time offer the use of their personal phone. In fact, the dept can never mandate that you use your personal phone for official business.

We get paid for 8 hours (or 10, depending) a day regardless what we are doing. Doesn’t matter if we are at a victim’s house while she calls an advocate, at the division doing paperwork, standing in the Thornton’s taking a break and having a refreshing beverage between runs, stopping everything that moves, or parked in a hidden spot doing nothing. What’s the big deal? This won’t be the last policy that LMPD implements because “it works so well somewhere else”.

If we want to do things our way then WE need to come up with the ideas that are used to formulate good policy that works HERE. Until we do that we will copy policy from other departments and continue to fall behind the curve.

security.

"Wonder whose phone they are going to use? Sure as hel** won't be mine."

That single line caused me to laughed out loud :)
