Somewhere around 2001 a lot of young officers started to get promoted. This was good for their careers, but many of them did not have the sense of pride and organization required for the order. They have allowed and sometimes advocated the lax attitude you see now. Let's be honest, LMPD officers are starting to look a little shabby. 5 o'clock shadows, dirty uniforms, ran over shoes, are commonly seen. I think Gentry was on the right track when she tried to restore order in the roll calls, but like everything else, it is being fought with hard resistance from the same people who don't mind looking like garbage and would love the company.
