The folks in the K9 unit work a 7 hour and 15 minute shift to compensate them for all the time and effort spent taking care of a living piece of city equipment. There is no OT "built in" to their checks. They do get 45 minutes for each off day but only if the dog is taken home with them. Again, its to compensate them for the additional time and effort or caring for the dog. It has nothing to do with "doffing and donning".
