Do you think this will happen? How much of an expansion? (just curious as to how you would implement it/explain that its needed)

Wonder if he will keep the shifts the same?

If they have the money for officers, but not a "class" - expand it with laterals. Lots of folks would love to come to LMPD but are not willing to go back through ANOTHER basic training. If they are a certified Kentucky officer, especially if they are already in Jefferson County, welcome them, don't chase them away.

As for stations, we desperately need a downtown station. Say from 9th over to Adams, Broadway to the river. Then realign the rest of the districts accordingly. I've been told there isn't "room" in HQ for a division, yet we ran one out of there for years. If the 6th Division can operate out of a warehouse, surely we can find room downtown for Division, even if it has to be a little to the east. Where there is a will there is a way! It makes zero sense for the 1st Division to encompass as much as it does - plus downtown has special needs.

And here is a scary thought, supplement for events with part-timers. I know it is heresy, but we need to think about how to 1) work within existing budgets and 2) have enough officers!
