Woman arrested after pointing, "small plastic orange handgun" at cop |
RE: Woman arrested after pointing, "small plastic orange handgun...
This case is a classic example of police overcharging somebody with a crime only to have it backfire in their face. This was NEVER a wanton endangerment case to begin with. Police have a culture that says charge somebody with the highest crime possible (even if it is bs) so that it can be amended to something lower. You start out high so you can have some room to get a lower charge. This is outrageous and probably illegal and unethical! You should only charge someone for what there is probable cause to charge them with. This was an emotional charge! When I was an FTO I would never allow recruits to charge with crimes outside the criminal elements. If the act was not committed, the charge will not stick. Stop hoping people plead guilty to bogus charges!
