Once upon a time no one had an MDT and no one could see what was holding or pending. For some strange reason it seems like runs still got covered. Asking dispatch if runs are holding is a bad practice. If runs are being held, eventually they will be dispatched. Trust me, they are not holding shootings.

I for one hate holding runs.

I also hate sending units to the other side of the division for a report.

We are required to let the C.O. know about every barking dog run we hold, even if the car on that beat will be clear in 5 minutes.

No dispatcher should ever hold a proprity run, that's a huge liability.

If you see a pending run that is being held, even if is off your beat, you are allowed to volunteer and make it...

Then your happy dispatcher won't have you as an available unit to send on Tarc 10-50's! :-)
