although I am white I do agree with you. There are some great people on LMPD (African American and white) who have worked hard to get where they are and rightfully deserved. I have worked with Gentry and she is a very good person but she is not qualified to be chief in the company she is competing with. It is nothing against her as a person or anything to do with race or gender. She only has a bachelors where everyone else has a masters. She has not attended any of the Federal or SPI schools but they have. If we (as a community) really want to move forward and be the best we can we need to look past political correctness and get the most qualified for the jobs we need to fill. If the person is the most qualified it will not matter what race or gender they are. ON a different note, I already feel the CJ is endorsing her to be the next Chief. Something about how the article was written and the title of it did not sit as an objective news article.

I agree with your post except for the "reverse" racism part. Since when did racism become defined specifically as white against black? Racism is racism no matter who the racist is and believe me it goes both ways equally when it comes the blacks and whites.
