Former police chief's son pleads guilty to assaulting wife

"The plea deal calls for a two-year prison sentence for Robert C. White III but would allow him to avoid incarceration by entering a diversion program for five years, potentially having his record expunged if he completes the program.

If White stays out of trouble, has no unlawful contact with his wife and completes a substance-abuse program, the case 'will go away like it never happened,' Jefferson Circuit Judge McKay Chauvin told White during the guilty plea."
