JChris (not Jesus Christ),

A response to your response;

"We never know who or what may be hostile to us behind the doors." = And the rest or us do? is anyone prewarned of a car jacking, an armed robbery, a home invasion? You have the benefit of being readily armed, and trained, far better than the average citizen. It really is insulting the way you try to pretend that the clerks of the hundreds of 24 hour stores, dont go into every night shift wondering if this will be the night their lives are at the mercy of a criminal. Many times, not only are they not provided with a means of self defense, body armor, and a weapon, but are prohibited from such. Still, they do their job.

Response = Actually I sort of agree with you, but you forget the clerk at the store isn't dispatched to that domestic, the assist ems, the assist anybody else run. That clerk also isn't wearing a nice shiny target on his or her chest. But you will argue this until you are blue in the face and the rest have tuned you out. You also missed the point that YOU brought up the military vs police comparison; I simply gave you the differences (I have known your style since your Jchris days on the CJ)

"Are we perfect? No, but we are a darn sight better than what is available throughout most of the world." = That is relatively true, though that in no way means we should 'settle' for less than the best. Nobody said being a police officer was easy, but you are not alone in that respect. There really is no guarantee that anything is easy.

Response = Wow, I am actually feeling a warming in your heart on this one.

"Are they perfect, no, But do you care, no. You just want to pick a fight that see from behind your computer monitor." = So, that is what you get from my posts? I think that cops should be perfect? Then you are not competent to be trying to carry on a dialogue with me. I am by far not perfect, and have no more of an excuse for my behavior than I do for yours. The difference between you and I, is that I KNOW my job does not make me any better of a person than a waitress at Denny's, the garbage man, of the kid taking my order at a restaurant. On a personal level, we all judge. Its a nasty human trait, but it happens. I am a better person than some, and a worse person than others, based upon my own definition of what 'better' means.

Response = The difference between you and I is that I knew I chose to help others, I knew the cost to my family and friends, yet I chose it anyway. Was I proud of it, he-l-l yes. Did I think it gave me a standing above anybody else, nope. Never. It did give me an excellent insight into the human condition and what the human animal (if you want to call some that) can do to each other and their surroundings. And yes I do get the "ME ME ME ME" fron your post. Chris, it has always been about you, sorry to say this, but you are very egocentric (and yes many of the other posters on here are as well)

Response = Actually I think I am very tolerant of you, and have proven that many times. Your old monikers on the CJ and your rants on subjects were enough to make many folks angry, I viewed you as worthy opponent. Did I learn who you were quickly back then, yes. Did I "out you", no. Others did that, and I disagree with the practice.

I made the decisions to serve, in a series of capacities throughout my life. It is what I was good at, my calling if you will. Some find religion, some find money others find service. I have as much respect for those who choose to volunteer their times at soup kitchens and shelters as I do any one, because they give of themselves. Now my hope is that those who have continued on and those who replace me are still of that same mindset, and I believe most are.

I accept your criticisms of the police, I truly do, but you never have left at as a simple criticism, you have always made it an attack (argue if you will, but that is your style). I have always believed that you must thrive on a crisis somewhere. I do not get on here often, but when I do it is because I have viewed my old CJ Nemesis on here.

And to close, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

And yes there will be typos and run on sentences.... oopsy daisy
