RE: Officer shot in the Portland neighborhood, second officer...

"You started by presuming that I said things that another said." Nope. That wasn't me. I can clearly distinguish your posts from others.

"I have listened to some of you cheer the death of a young girl." Again, not me.

"...when every time I mention them, that cops DO NOT follow traffic laws, cops profess that not following them is a job perk... you and others make the statement that you deserve it." Again, not me. I never stated we deserve the right to not obey traffic laws. I speed, like 90% of the rest of the population. No point denying it. Although, I don't run red lights or disregard other safety laws. But yes, I do speed. Not always, but sometimes.

"That IS the basis for my attitude. You treat me like I am anti cop, as if I choose a criminal over a cop, and that isnt true. I am anti abuse. I trusted one officer with a name, and he couldnt wait to betray that trust and put that name all over this forum with a call to intimidate and harass me. Chris and Paul care nothing about privacy, unless its to protect cops from retaliation from chiefs office. You ask why I have an attitude? All it takes is paying attention to what goes on, on this very forum." Then it's a very limited basis. There are an average of what? 10 to maybe 50 police officers that post here regularly or even semi-regularly? That isn't a proper reflection of 1200 others. Not in my opinion, but obviously in yours. Should the limited population that posts extreme views use the word "we" all the time? No. But I can't control their choice of words or how you receive them. I can't speak for or control your experiences with the officers you specifically mentioned. I can say no one has "called" for me to intimidate or harass you and even if they did, I have zero desire to put my livelihood on the line for a stranger on the internet. I can and will only speak for myself and my opinions. You clearly dislike what you perceive as abuse carried out by the majority of police, when in fact, statistically, that abuse occurs in the minority of this profession. It's not my business to change your mind, though. The difference between me and some of the others you have exchanged words with is that I know the "brotherhood" is not what it once was. You claim officers want to protect each other from retaliation in the chief's office or "cover up" for each other. I've been investigated (and cleared) and let me tell you, very few of my coworkers were even remotely supportive. Most of them were gossiping like highschoolers behind my back and smiling in my face. That's the nature of the beast. It's the ugly side of human nature. So yeah, I don't like your generalizations, regardless of your personal experiences. My personal experience doesn't reflect what you believe to be the reality of police officers. Therefore, we will always disagree. It was nice debating with you. Now I'm off to spend this holiday weekend with my family because I am thrilled to be off until the 26th for the first time in many years. Can't wait! Have a safe holiday with your own family.
