RE: Officer shot in the Portland neighborhood, second officer...

"Do you truly believe that officers knew that he had stabbed himself when they escorted him to the hospital? They were under the impression that an EMT was randomly attacked while preparing an ambulance for his shift."

Of course I dont think they knew, that is the point. Do you really think that if the SAME wound, and the same STORY were given by any outside civilian, that they would have gotten a road closed escort to the hospital? I know for a fact that they wouldnt, because ive seen it first hand.

I never said that they KNEW beforehand, I said that their actions were ONLY driven by the fact that he wore the uniform, NOT what happened, and NOT the extent of his injuries.

"if a soldier, firefighter, EMT or police officer is perceived to be wounded performing their duties, until an investigation shows otherwise, I believe they deserve to be rushed to the hospital with an escort. You do not. That won't change."

Then stop trying to make me wrong when I say you have a sense of entitlement. You just said it explicitly that you DO!

"I disagree that I should have to apologize for the way the news perpetuates reality."

If you claim, the news is making you look bad, then it is up to you to apologize for an image you are portrayed with.

There was a 14 year old Iraqi girl raped, and her family murdered by US soldiers. They were charges, and convicted. They committed that crime wearing the uniform of the military of MY country. In discussions of that article, I offered a sincere apology, on behalf of those soldiers. I acknowledge that when people act in a manner that shows, or implies that I am doing something wrong, then it IS up to me to be apologetic for that. There is no shame in being mature enough to own up to that fact.

Many times have I taken on the fact that truck drivers as a whole make me look bad, because of their trash, their poor driving, and rudeness. I will not hesitate to call in on a driver, when I see him toss a **** bottle out the window of his truck. It is because i DO respect my occupation, and like it or not, every person out there who does the same thing, reflects upon me.

Again, the definition of 'facts' is not open to interpretation any more than facts themselves. You made accusations, I refuted them. There is no validity to that which you have said, so youre right, there is no need for you to keep replying, because your argument is called a red herring.

As to generalizing about citizens, that is not a finite group, so one person cannot claim to speak on behalf of an entire citizenry. You all are the ones segregating yourselves from 'us' by your actions, therefore, until you can show me cops that would NOT make the decision to escort your own to the hospitals for such trivial and minor injuries, then the generalization stands on merit of the fact that unless it has been the same 40-50 cops involved each and every time it happens, then it is by far the vast majority.
