EMS employee addresses Metro Council about contract dispute

I do agree about the staffing of the patrol guys, even though I did my last 12 out of 20 in a specialty unit. Did that make me a house cat? I guess it depends on your perspective... but I know I worked my A$$ off most days and missed many of those family events that someone mentioned because of callouts.

However, I don't believe it's fair to paint everyone in a specialty unit with a broad brush as some of you guys are doing.

Yeah, there are those in those units with the big head, but then again there are those in patrol with big heads. When I worked in CIS, I always tried to make a point to tell the beat guys that were assisting us that they were truly the front line and were appreciated.

Just as it's not fair when the public views all of the police in a biased light, it's equally unfair to do the same thing to each other, for whatever reason.

The sooner ALL of you guys figure out that you'll get more by standing together than bashing each other, maybe you'll be able to accomplish something (especially at contract negotiation time).

I'm recently retired, and couldn't be happier about it, but I'm still pulling for you guys from the sidelines!!
