Boston Police Among Highest Paid in Nation

As the wife of a Boston Police Officer who does not have a degree and does not benefit from the Quinn Bill, I would like you to consider how much work it would take to make that $78,906 average you mentioned in you're article. It's like working a second job. There's nothing wrong with that. Lot's of people work second jobs, but it is difficult when you have three small children at home that worry about Daddy and when he will be home. I don't usually complain about that because the money can be good, but it isn't consistent or guaranteed. And we certainly haven't seen a $78k year yet. I'm sure that there are lots of police officers that have, but it's a lot of extra work and shouldn't be considered when looking at base pay.
